The U12 Girls have had an amazing year and the future looks even brighter. Having just finished runner up at Presidents Cup the team opted to push onto next year and play 11v11 U13. Yet again this group of girls showed their metal and stepped up to the plate beating two true U13 teams on route the final, 2-0 and 5-1 and also beating Countryside U12 Girls. The final was a very competitive game against U12 Countryside team that included U13 girls. The Fury took a 1-0 lead into half time but could not hold onto in the second half. Countryside were determined not to be beaten on home soil and tied the game up. The Fury raised the level of their game in response and took a 2-1 lead. With only 3 minutes left it looked like to championship would be coming to south Florida but Countryside had other ideas and pushed on and equalized. With a stalemate during extra time the game went to Penalty kicks and it was not to be Weston’s day. Head Coach Alan Foy stated, “If you had told me before we came here we would have one 11v11 practice, beat two true U13 teams and only lose in the final on PK’s I would have taken it. This is a great look into next year for us and this age group can truly have some fun playing this game with their talent.”
