The Weston Fury Soccer Club 94/95 Girls Premier team won the U13 Girls Classic 1 Division of the Weston Invitational Tournament and the Florida United Girls Soccer Association U13 Division 1 Championship on consecutive weekends. The Fury finished the Weston Invitational with a record of four wins to no defeats and scored fourteen goals allowing only one at the President’s Day Tournament.
The following weekend had the Fury seeded second in the four team playoff. In the semi-final match Weston defeated the third seed West Pines United 1-0. Sara Perlman’s early free kick goal proved to be the only goal the Fury’s defense would need to advance to the final against the undefeated Parkland Predator’s. Weston’s Taylor Kuruc got on the end of Bailee Abrahamoff’s first half corner kick to take a 1-0 lead into the half. However, Parkland bounced back early in the second half scoring two goals to take a lead that would last until the final ten minutes of the game. The Fury stayed calm, focused and refused to give up managing two late second half goals by Kuruc to complete the improbable comeback against one of the premier teams in the state capturing the FLUGSA U13 Championship.
The entire season thus far has been a true group effort. Every girl on this roster has contributed to the team’s success with hard work and dedication on and off the field.
