COCOA, FL – United Soccer Leagues third Super Y-League ODP National Camp of the 2008 season wrapped up today at the Cocoa Expo Center in Cocoa, Florida with the identification of the’92 and ‘93/’94 SYL Select Teams. While numerous regions across the U.S. and Canada awoke to harsh and wintry conditions, the Space Coast of eastern Florida held onto the mid 70-degree weather the players and coaches enjoyed throughout the past four days.
Paulinna Speckmaier U14 Girls Premier and Danielle Vidal U15 Girls Premier have been selected to play with the 93/94 Girls National Select teams. This is ahuge achievement and we wish to congratulate the girls on their selection.
During his time in Cocoa this week, U.S. National Team Staff Coach Mike Dickey met with several of the Super Y-League ODP coaches, including Kolmel, to discuss the U.S. Under-17 National Team’s recent trip to the Future Stars Tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. SYL coaches took the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the scouting scheme of the U.S. Women’s National Teams.
“It was great to see the objectives of the U.S. National Team,” said Kolmel. “It helps to know the mind-frame they are looking for so we can tailor our curriculum on the club level to match. The end result should better prepare players to compete at the highest possible level.”
