The Weston Fury continues to strengthen their female coaching staff with the appointment of 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Staci Wilson and by securing the return of Kate Dwyer.
Wilson joins the Fury in a Head Coach capacity and brings experiences that only a few are ever able to achieve. A two-time Parade magazine All-American in high school. In 1995, Soccer Digest named her co-National College Player of the Year. She is widely considered the toughest defensive player in the history of the college game. At UNC she worked with Anson Dorrance where she was a member of three NCAA national championship soccer teams in 1994, '96 and '97. As a senior, in 1997, Soccer America magazine named her "first-team All-America." Few were surprised when UNC decided to honor the All-America defender by retiring her #27 jersey in 2001. In 1995 and '96, Wilson played for the U.S. National team and was a member of the gold-medal-winning women's soccer team at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. In 2000 Wilson was drafted by the Carolina Courage of the WUSA (Women's United Soccer Association). Since retiring from the game Staci has moved into the coaching ranks and has already secured her USSF National C License and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Dwyer Returns to Fury.
The WFSC are delighted to announce the return of Kate Dwyer to their girl’s staff. Kate coached with the club in the 2003-04 season and with Barry University as an assistant before moving to the New Jersey area where she has continued to as an assistant coach for Division I Rutgers University, prominent local soccer clubs as a head coach and trainer for U12 through U18 girls and as a speed and agility trainer.
Dwyer is a National USSF certified coach, holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Barry University and was scholarship to play for the University of Missouri, Columbia.
